Eight UL students were chosen for the scholarship that year: seven from business courses, and me, the only computer science student.
Beyond the financial support, the scholarship has given me the chance to work closely with a mentor, and the backing of people in industry as I take the next steps in my career.
The Fidelis Partnership is one of the largest and most diversified managing general underwriters in the world. It was founded by Richard Brindle and has offices in Bermuda, London, Dublin, Abu Dhabi and Miami, with its European headquarters in Dublin. It underwrites specialty insurance and reinsurance across more than 150 lines of business in over 140 countries, and wrote around $5.4 billion in premium in 2025.
Together with the Brindle Foundation, it funds scholarships for UL students in business, IT, and risk and insurance, pairing the funding with mentoring, co-op placements and internships. Being picked by a company of that size, as the only computer science student that year, means a lot to me.
