Tutor

In third year I moved on to tutoring, helping students through drop-in sessions. I'm doing it again in final year.

Drop-in tutoring means helping whoever comes in with whatever they're stuck on, so I have to know the material well enough to explain it on the spot. Working through problems with students who are struggling has made me a better and more engaged programmer.

It's also really rewarding. In my own first year I used these same supports, and they were incredibly useful to my development, so it feels good to be the one helping now.

Being part of the ICT Learning Centre also lets me keep my finger on the pulse of what's going on in the computer science department at UL.
